Welcome to the website for Patty's private practice.

Patty is a mature aged psychotherapist-counsellor located in the Moreton Bay suburb of Cleveland, Qld, 30km east of Brisbane, Australia.

​

Patty works with adults and older adults, primarily on an individual basis. She provides online and face-to-face therapy.

Older Adults

As an older adult, Patty has been able to navigate a meaningful life alongside many life and health challenges. Her lived experience provides her with insight into the aging process and a wide and deep perspective across a long lifespan.

Patty's training included a year with Swinburne University’s Wellbeing Clinic for Older Adults and a semester focused on Applied Gerontology (UQ), where she learned specialised skills and knowledge for working with older adults.

Loss and Grief

Patty brings her lived experience and training to support people who are struggling with loss and grief relating to many life issues. She takes a person-centred, empathic approach to assist people to make transitions in their life after loss. 

Health Capacity Challenges

Patty also has a particular interest in working with adults and older adults who experience health capacity challenges, particularly issues to do with mobility, the impact of accidents, and fatigue issues.

Trauma-Informed Care

As part of her work, Patty is able to support individuals in processing and healing from traumatic experiences. She has trained and worked  in this area and has also undergone her own personal work in relation to lived trauma experience.

Other issues

Patty is also happy to see adults and older adults for a range of other issues if they think they would like to work with her.

Approach to therapy

Approach to Therapy

Patty's overarching approach is

psychodynamic psychotherapy,

essentially a relational approach.

​

Patty also takes a person-centred approach.

​

She can incorporate a range of modalities including Reminiscence Therapy, Dignity Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Trauma-informed Therapy,  Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Renegotiation of Self, and some Jungian-inspired approaches.​​​​
